Learning Performance

Learning performance is the arena in which knowledge is transferred to one individual or the whole organization. Knowing how people learn and retain information is necessary in order to have successful learning results which transfer into performance. In truth, the most effective way to learn is to be able to actually do what is being taught while it is being taught or immediately after it is being taught. It also is desirable to have a structure of support while practicing and invested champions who keep the learning and new activity level alive through engaging the new skills.

In order to sustain and retain results, learning must be used repeatedly in order to build neurological pathways which retain the new learning and how to integrate it with previous learning. This requires more than one stand up delivery and a great presentation. It requires engaging the audience enough to shift how they think and act and continuing to create opportunities to use the training until it is integrated into a retrievable skill. Realized Performance associates offer:

  • In person training and development and learning facilitation activities
  • Workbook, work packet and learning aid design
  • Simulation based learning
  • “eLearning” training and design

Electric Learning™

As performance consultants we take a dim view of what’s passed for eLearning. Users have had a similar view and have typically suffered through medium to even higher end eLearning. Traditional best practices for eLearning, with their emphasis on engaging learners with the charms of interactivity tend to miss the point.

People learn best by doing, as they approach a learning situation. Typically they jump in and try and learn even if they fail. Even if they fail, they begin a remembering process and a series of memory/recall/integration events. At that point they’re most receptive to receive coaching and information related to their recent encounter. And after receiving this information, they’re ready to try again, and typically will try until they either succeed at reaching their objective or abandon the attempt.

Our beliefs:

  • Computers are uniquely capable of replicating a similar process that supports how people learn actually learn.
  • We recommend computerized learning events, to the extent they support the principles of learn by doing

We are proud to have relationships with the premier learning vendors in the industry, those who do quality work, at a reasonable price, but take their role seriously from an improvement in performance perspective.
